Sabotage or error? Pakistan?s visually-impaired cricket captain consumes acid in India

A major cricket controversy between arch sports rivals India and Pakistan is brewing after Zeeshan Abbasi, captain of Pakistan?s T20 visually-impaired cricket team was admitted to a Bangalore hospital after consuming acid.

Pakistan is in India to play the World T20 Cricket Tournament and Abbasi was admitted to M S Ramaiah hospital.

Major news sites in India and Pakistan, however, reported two completely different versions of what happened.

The News from Pakistan carried a report which claimed a sabotage plan where a glass of a cleaning liquid was purposely kept in front of Abbasi.

Quoting a Geo News report on Saturday, the site reported that Chairman of the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council Sultan Shah has alleged that the glass filled with acid was deliberately placed on the table.

However, The Times of India website reported that Abbasi accidentally drank the diluted acid, it named as phenyl.

The site, quoting official sources reported that the phenyl was kept in a plastic bottle on a table where usually mineral water bottle is kept at Abbasi?s hotel.

The TOI report also reported that Abbasi has been treated and is alright now.

Abbasi is the fast bowler of Pakistan blind cricket team and comes under partially blind B2 category.

Pakistan defeated India on Friday by eight wickets at the Twenty-20 World Cup Cricket Tournament.?
