Limited impact seen if Iran's natgas exports cut: U.S. EIA

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A reduction in natural gas exports from Iran would not have much impact on world energy markets, but could hurt Turkey and part of Azerbaijan, according to a U.S. report due to be released on Tuesday.

The report is designed to be used by the U.S. administration as it considers whether to broaden sanctions on Iran over its disputed nuclear program to include sales of natural gas.

"The potential global impacts of restricting Iranian gas exports are limited," the U.S. Energy Information Administration report said.

The report, a copy of which was obtained by Reuters ahead of its publication, was required by the latest U.S. sanctions law against Iran signed in August.

The United States and other Western nations have targeted Iran's energy sector for sanctions as an effort to cut off revenues it believes Iran is using to build nuclear weapons. Tehran has insisted its program is for civilian purposes.

The European Union is poised to ban imports of Iranian gas, a measure it may formally adopt at a meeting of foreign ministers on October 15.

"The (EIA) report gives cover for the administration to broaden sanctions to cover natural gas exports," said Mark Dubowitz, the head of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, an advocate for stronger sanctions on Iran.

Iran has large reserves of natural gas, but its current exports go mainly to Turkey, which buys more than 90 percent of the output under long term contracts. Armenia and Azerbaijan purchase 6 percent and 3 percent, respectively.

"Clearly, Turkey would be placed in a very difficult position in the event that it is unable to continue importing Iranian natural gas," the EIA said.

A prolonged period without access to Iran's natural gas could "have a major disruptive effect" on Turkish industry, home heating and power generation, the report said.

Congress is also considering tweaks to a U.S. sanctions law that could blacklist a broader range of Iran's energy sector.

That's still far fewer than the 50% who report only using a desktop, or the 82% who use a desktop alone or alongside other devices. Meanwhile, 55% of organizations stated that supporting a larger number of smartphones was a high or critical priority over the next 12 months, while 52% said supporting tablets like Apple's iPad was.

Giving Your Home the Makeover It Deserves - Fessler Home ...

Last updated 7 hours 38 minutes ago

If your home needs a little help to reach its potential, a full-service contractor can help you determine exactly how to bring out its latent beauty. Follow these tips to get some ideas to remodel your home.

Determine Your Own Needs
The most important part of the planning process is determining what you want. If you intend to remain in your house for a significant period of time, choose improvements that will make life in your home simpler, more comfortable, and more convenient. It's your home, so decide what you want and talk with your contractor about making it happen.

Choose Investments with High Return
Whether you're fixing your home up to sell or planning on staying there for the rest of your life, it's always a good idea to make improvements that will be reflected in the value of your home. Typically, the most attractive improvements to homebuyers are those made in kitchens and bathrooms?two areas in which people insist on efficiency, cleanliness, and comfort. Anything that makes your home more attractive to buyers will increase its total value, so do your research before deciding what to improve.

Don't Neglect the Infrastructure
When performing home improvements, people tend to focus on superficial, aesthetic improvements. However, the best renovations to make to your home are often to the underlying systems within it. Modernizing your home's infrastructure won't just make your life easier; it will increase the value of your home dramatically. By working with a full-service contractor, you can ensure that all of your home's infrastructure systems are improved concurrently, enabling them to complement each other and saving on construction costs.

Are you remodeling your home? Choose a general home improvement contractor who can put together the best technicians from every home improvement field and create a renovation plan that eliminates inefficiencies and saves money. For full-service contracting help in Murfreesboro, call Fessler Home Improvement & Construction at (888) 473-0630.

LinkedIn seeks wider use with ability to "follow"

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Professional social network LinkedIn Corp will let its users "follow" and receive updates from people outside their personal contact list, a move that could entice users to spend more time on its website.

The new feature, which LinkedIn announced on Tuesday, takes a page from other popular social networks such as Twitter and Facebook Inc, where users can check for updates from leaders, celebrities and others with large numbers of followers,

Until now, LinkedIn's 175 million-member social network was more closed, mainly serving people who select their own network of business contacts and others, often using it to hunt for jobs. Users of LinkedIn could only share information with their immediate circle of contacts on the service.

The new feature means that celebrities and ordinary LinkedIn users alike will be able to post messages, share photos and links to news articles that can be read by a broad group of people.

The ability to have followers will initially be available to only 150 LinkedIn users the company has pre-selected, including Virgin Group's Richard Branson, celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson and Huffington Post President Arianna Huffington. President Barack Obama and presidential candidate Mitt Romney are also among the initial group. Eventually, any user on LinkedIn will be able to have others follow them, the company said.

The change could spur people to spend more time on LinkedIn, allowing the company to generate more advertising revenue.

LinkedIn's U.S. users spent an average of 20.6 minutes on its website in August, compared with an average of 402.9 minutes for Facebook users, according to data analytics firm comScore. And LinkedIn users made an average of 5.4 visits to its website in August, compared with 35.6 visits by users on Facebook.

The move also comes at a time when LinkedIn is facing competition from rivals that offer similar professional networking and job-searching services directly on Facebook's social network, such as BranchOut, which said in April that its Facebook app had 25 million users.

LinkedIn, which had revenue of $522 million last year, makes money from selling ads and premium subscriptions, as well as from offering specialized services to recruiters.

Shares of LinkedIn, which finished Monday's regular trading session at $117.94, are up 87 percent this year.

Why Recreational Vehicles Need Insurance Coverage - seophilly's ...

Have you ever wondered whether recreational vehicles need insurance coverage? They do. A number of recreational vehicles (RVs) function as both home and vehicle to some. Therefore, if you take your home with you on the road, you need to get your RV insured. Now, if you are wondering whether the smaller RVs need insurance too, let us discuss the matter. ?

For smaller recreational vehicles like all-terrain vehicles, snow mobiles, fifth wheel motor homes, personal watercraft and boats, insurance coverage should also be obtained. Why? Accidents happen anytime and anywhere. This means you have to protect your property through specialty insurance coverage, apart from your home insurance. In fact, even golf carts should have insurance. There are a few communities that rely on golf carts to go from place to place. ?

So, what are the reasons why recreational vehicles should have insurance coverage?

? Your valuable things on the RV ? TV, laptop, camcorder, and other things ? could get lost or damaged. You cannot get paid for them if you only have a regular auto or home insurance as these are not on your ?residence premises?.?

? You can be held responsible for the injury sustained by a person or for the damage to property if your parked recreational vehicle causes the accident that leads to the injury or damage to property.

? Your RV could get damaged on the road. ?

What are the coverage options included in RV insurance policies?

? Physical Injury and Property Damage liability covers injury of a person or damage to property. If you are responsible for the accident, the insurance can pay for repairs, medical bills, and lost wages of the injured party.

? Uninsured or underinsured motorist covers medical bills of the injured party whose insurance does not cover the injury or who does not have any insurance at all.?

? Medical and other Health Miscellaneous Payments covers injury or damage of the passengers inside the vehicle.

? Roadside Assistance covers the cost of towing the damaged RV to a repair shop and also covers payment for labor.

You have to know that most low cost auto insurance for Philadelphia residents does not cover enough of the many RV incidents. ?This is why you have to find the best insurance brokerage in the Delaware Valley to help you decide what to include in the insurance policy for your fifth wheel or off-road vehicles. ?Ask the auto insurance specialist in Philadelphia to tell you what is included in the coverage. Lastly, you must know that not all insurance brokers in Bucks County are the same. Thus, be sure to find the best one. ?

Mass. wants men to know they can get breast cancer

BOSTON (AP) -- Gov. Deval Patrick wants Massachusetts men to know that they also can get breast cancer.

Men rarely get breast cancer, but those who do often don't survive as long as women, mainly because they don't even realize they can get it and are slow to recognize the warning signs.

A recent study found that men's breast tumors were larger at diagnosis, more advanced and more likely to have spread to other parts of the body.

Many men have no idea that they can get breast cancer, and some doctors are in the dark, too, dismissing symptoms that would be an automatic red flag in women.

Patrick is hoping to change that in Massachusetts beginning Monday, when he signs a bill designating the third week of October as Male Breast Cancer Awareness Week.
